Let me throw a couple of names at you to see if you recognize them: The Fletcher Leisure Group, Sunice, Ashworth, Aureus and Aurea. Any of these sound familiar? Well, the first one might not be that well known to some but the Montreal based Fletcher Leisure Group are the largest privately owned distributes of golf apparel in Canada. They have been in this business for over 40 years and are now are expanding into the U.K. Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. However, among these great brand names there are two that have now become one, Aureus and Aurea are now under the new name of AUR.

You see the smart folks at AUR realized that the golf apparel market needed something different, they already had the fashion lines of Audacious, Active and Authentic so, enter the new line "Aware". What's so special about this new line of golf and leisure apparel I hear you ask? well, let me fill you in with a bit of reality!

Picture this.... It's hot, you are on the first tee with your buddies and it's your turn. The next group up is also watching and the pressure is on. You really don't want to whiff this one. "Please let it go down the middle" you are saying to yourself. You are sweating and you are starting to feel uncomfortable. "Why is this shirt sticking to me?" Sound familiar? For the majority of golfers in this world, this situation is all to common. Sure you buy the latest irons, drivers and putters but, the one thing that gets overlooked is the clothes that you wear. When, in reality, they are no less important than the equipment you play with. How nice would it be to feel cool in hot weather? feel comfortable, not sticky or worse, smelly because don't forget, you still have to go into the clubhouse for lunch after the game! Who want's to be sitting next to somebody whose body odor is overpowering?

This is where the "Aware" line of clothing comes into it's own. AUR have gone green, no not the color green, but Eco friendly Green. We tested the new shirts on courses around Las Vegas and we were very impressed with them as they kept us cool all day long, the fabric seemed to make sweat and odor just evaporate, making it feel like we had just put them on. When we got back home we checked out the different styles available for these golf shirts and WOW! What great designs and colors. AUR even make shorts, trousers and fleece tops for both men and woman. We were interested to find out what goes into this new product so, here it is;  EcoSmart, available for men and women, is a fabric made from Recycled Polyester yarn. Recycled Polyester yarn is made from plastic post-consumer based products. The benefits of EcoSmart are moisture management, anti-odor, fast drying, added UV protection, easy care and, they are also environmentally responsible. It reduces fossil-fuel consumption and greenhouse gases when compared to regular Polyester fabrication.

• E-CottonT by AUR, available for men and women, is a Cotton/Bamboo fabric made by combining bamboo-derived fibers (bamboo is basically pounded until it becomes threads of fiber) and cotton. The benefits of E-CottonT by AUR are a luxurious hand feel that's softer than the softest cotton, anti-odor, easy care, hypo allergenic, thermal regulating, naturally four times more absorbent than cotton, breathable, anti-bacterial and environmentally responsible. It is environmentally friendly because it is made with a Bamboo component, which is one of the world's most sustainable resources.
• Nanobon®, available for men only, consists of carbonized bamboo particles that are combined with a polyester yarn and knit into a garment. The benefits of Nanobon® are moisture management, anti-odor, fast drying, added UV protection and environmentally responsible since renewable carbonized bamboo, instead of a chemical finish, was used to attain these benefits.
