The Grand Golf Club is located in San Diego, California, and, as the name suggests, is extremely luxurious and special.

The course itself is part of the resort, which is certainly for those who like to spoil themselves with quality and the finer things in life. This is the kind of place that you only dream of playing and with green fee’s ranging from the $225 dollar mark; the Grand is certainly not an everyday course.

We arrived at the palatial clubhouse and were greeted by the staff at the bag drop. They took our clubs to get us all set up on the power carts before our round while we went in to the pro shop to speak to the staff there and were made very welcome and treated very well. We were told that we were all set to head to the practice facility to warm up and that we had a caddie with us to help us negotiate the course! Our caddie, Sean, accompanied us to the range and made sure that our clubs were cleaned for us after our practice time. We then headed to the 10^th tee as we were starting on the back nine today. Sean gave us the information on where we needed to be with our tee shots and then he headed down to fairway to fore caddie for us. He would watch our drives and make sure that we could find our balls if we strayed off the fairway. We had never experienced this kind of golf before and where quite overwhelmed by it. Sean was very pleasant and accommodating and actually a joy to be playing with. However, we found ourselves spending more time worrying about him, and his staying hydrated and refreshed, than we did on our game!

The course itself was very good. With undulating fairways and greens that were difficult to read (even for our caddie!) this is a real test of golf. The course plays to 7160 Yards from the tips (Grand Tee’s) but is still a great test from the Back tees at 6688 Yards.

A Tom Fazio design, this course spreads over 380 acres of lush fairways and rolling hills. With various tee locations, this course is for all levels of players. The crushed marble sand in the bunkers is second to none and although meant to be a hazard, playing out of them is almost a pleasure! Beautiful water features also abound on the course.

The teaching facilities at The Grand are also quite unique. With one-on-one teaching only available, players can really get some help with their game to help them to improve.

A very impressive golf shop is also available for everything from new equipment like Clubs and Bags to the latest in stylish golf clothing.

Visit The Grand Golf Club in San Diego at least once. It is a real treat and an eye opener for the weekend golfer!
